Alphabetical Listing of Broodmares in the French Studs in 1913: Together with a Supplement of Stallions standing in Such French Studs (translated from Haras De France, 1913)

Stockton, California; (1967): Jim Breen Books. Quarto. Item #025964

68 pages. While the Haras De France is rare (OCLC records only the copy at Bibliothèque nationale), this copy is unrecorded in OCLC or NUC. This list of broodmares, and supplements of stallions here includes the name, the year of foaling, sire and dam, and dam's sire. Many American-bred broodmares are listed among the over 2500 mares. The background goes back to when August Belmont, H.B. Duryea, F.R. Hitchcock, Frank Jay Goud, Clarence H. Mackay and others maintained, or owned and raced horses in France. Front cover reads: Broodmares in French Studs, 1913. The author was an expert on the pedigrees of thoroughbred horses. Besides this work, he was the author of Circular Pedigrees of Thoroughbred Horses. Bound in pictorial stiff paper wraps backed in black cloth, lettering and illustrations in black. A very nice, clean copy with just a hint of finger soiling.
