Casper Whitney was the editor of Outing Magazine where he published articles on hunting, fishing and adventure stories by Jack London. Here joined by the American anthropologist, George Bird Grinnell (co-founder with Teddy Roosevelt of the Boone & Crockett club), who writes on the bison; and Owen Wister who writes on the mountain sheep and the white goat. Carl Rungius art including his famous: "The White Goat is an Agile Climber" (p. 253) which helped place him in the forefront of wildlife art. Bound in ¾ brown morocco over marbled paper covered boards with matching endpapers, raised bands, compartments lettered and decorated in gilt, top edge gilt, a bit of fading to spine. A handsome copy.
