George Fordyce, M.D., F.R.S., was the Senior Physician to St. Thomas's Hospital and the leader of physics in London. The Royal Society Journal on the History of Science said he was the authority on fevers at the end of the 18th century but his lack of social graces kept him from a wider acceptance in British society.
