George Fordyce, M.D., F.R.S., was the Senior Physician to St. Thomas's Hospital and the leader of physics in London. The Royal Society Journal on the History of Science said he was the authority on fevers at the end of the 18th century but his lack of social graces kept him from a wider acceptance in British society. Each section with title page. The 1794 is identified; ESTC 111958 238 pages; the 1795 ESTC N21753 156 pages with the errata leaf following; the third part 1798 is ESTC 111957 260 pages. Small closed edge tear to lower margin on page123-124 of third dissertation. a fourth part was completed in 1799 but is not present here. He died in 1802 and became the major person on the issue of fever in his era. Bound in full calf, boards with gilt roll, handsomely rebacked to style, raised bands, lettering gilt, renewed endpapers.
