[8], 143, 1-58, 1-24, [1-44], 14 leaves of plates, portraits. The first translation of the author's De Bello Beligico first published at Rome 1632-47. Much on European diplomacy and the effects of the Protestant Reformation as Calvinists appropriated psalms to show the righteousness of their cause. Each of the images show the monarchs from Charles V and Philip II to each of those rulers who are leaders in the 30 Years War. A very readable 17th century account of the war, diplomacy and religion. Bound in contemporary mottled calf, early rebacking, raised bands with compartments full gilt decorated, red morocco spine label gilt, upper joint split near head and foot rear board split near head, damp staining to lower corners.
