The graduals were hymns of order in the observance of the mass, containing the Propers of the Mass and employing the black and red states of the Georgian musical notation. The rich part of Catholic worship began to disappear in the late 19th century and by Vatican II it was permitted but generally not encouraged out of the monastery. This beautiful copy has each page without flaws and has been beautifully preserved in a new full vellum binding, renewed endpapers, repairs to titloe page ,otherwise internally fresh.
