The History of the Ingenious Gentleman of La Mancha, (4 Volumes, Richly Bound By Bayntun)

Edinburgh: John Grant, 1906. Octavo. Item #025557

In four volumes translated by P.A. Motteux. Though originally translated at the beginning of the 17th century, Motteux's translation was chosen for the Modern Library edition since he captured so many of the nuances (which many English translators often distorted even to the point of adding English place name). Handsomely bound by Bayntun in full green crushed morocco paneled in a floral gilt motif, raised bands with compartments stamped in gilt, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers, rubbing along joints. A nice set designed for the great library.

Price: $2,250.00
