After an uneven publication history of the Jersey Bulletin, there was the publication of Hoard's Dairyman but this work became the standard. This work became the essential historical encyclopedia since it was accurate and included the early history from England (which had become a debated topic in the first decades of the 20th Century). Copies in very good condition have become scarce since many were used as the day-to-day reference for the dairy farmer.Bound in blue pictorial cloth lettered in gilt, pictorially stamped in gilt with the head of a Jersey, spine giilt, stamp of "Registered Jersey Cattle, Mrs. Louis Johnson and Sons, R. #7 Fergus Falls, Minn.some separation at gutter after half-title.
