284p. Jan-December (complete). This is the issue with the frontispiece of Edgar Allen Poe, facing page 49 and the first published biography of him on pages 49-53. James Russell Lowell's article on Poe includes the following poems in the February issue: "To Helen", "The Haunted Palace", "Lenore", and the controversial "Al Aaraaf". In the July issue his "The Imp of the Perverse" actually states his name as the author with a hand colored picture of flowers on the facing page. The October issue has his unsigned poem "The Divine Right of Kings". and his "The System of Dr. Tarr and Prof. Fether" is identified as his. Finally, the December issue has his "Stanzas [to F.S.O]". While all the poems listed here are by Poe, some did not list him as author.Bound in 3/4 calf over marbled paper covered boards, handsomely rebacked, double black leather spine label gilt.
