4 volume set. Each volume has a half-title, frontispiece, engraved title page and regular title page with Peter Pindar being on Volume 1. Peter Pindar was the pen name of John Wolcot. His satires began with his fellow aristocrats and continued against the King and Queen. He further mocked James Boswell and Hannah More as well as pompous religious figures. Complete sets have become uncommon. Bound in full calf, red morocco spine labels gilt to two volumes, wanting labels on two volumes, damp staining to first few leaves of volume four, volume three lacking front and rear free endpapers along with page 373 which has seven lines of the postscript.
