A semi-autobiographical novel set in Bremen 1928, Greece 1932, London 1938, and California 1940. The words Down There refer to nether world within the individual, a place of loneliness, alienation and hatred. Bound in ¼ black cloth lettered in red, over goldenrod paper covered boards, spine lettered in goldenrod, light fading to top fore-edge. A very nice copy in a very good unclipped orange pictorial dust jacket lettered and decorated black and white, spine lettering black and red, some chipping to spine ends and a bit of wear along the edges.
