Dr. Primrose, the title character, paints a portrait of village life, whose family endures many trials including the loss of most of their money, the seduction of one daughter, the destruction of their home by fire, and the vicar’s incarceration before all is put right in the end. Bound by Bayntun in 3/4 green crushed morocco over marbled paper covered boards, raised bands with lettering gilt, top edge gilt, spine evenly faded to light brown, with some fading across the upper edge of front board. A very good copy.
