Jacob de Gheyn II (1565-1629) was a Dutch painter, draftsman, and engraver known for his finely detailed still life, ornaments, and military illustrations. Trained in Antwerp and active in Leiden and The Hague, he helped introduce a more naturalistic style to Dutch art. His engravings and his influential military manual The Exercise of Arms (1607) secured his reputation as one of the most skilled and innovative graphic artists of his time. A fine copy.
