Santa Fe/Northland Press, Flagstaff (1981): Fenn Galleries, Ltd. Limited Edition. Quarto. Item #023957
Limited to 150 copies. The present copy is #49 signed by Frank Waters, with a foreword by Forrest Fenn. 144 pp. This book was written about Water's best friend, Leon Gaspart. Before the first edition was published, Gaspard had suffered a heart attack. He had already approved the book so it was still published. The book is a journey into Gaspard's world of Mongolian Nomads, Russian peasants, and Indian dancers, all depicted as colorfullu in prose as they are on the artist's canvases. The impact of his work had spread to a much larger, more appreciative public, damanding that Gaspard's story be told once again. A near fine copy bound in blue cloth lettered in gilt, spine lettering gilt, marbled endpapes, spine evenly faded, housed within a blue cloth covered slipcase with a portrait pastedown within a gilt frame, opening has fading to edges. A very hansome copy.
