The Denominators of the Fur Trade, an Anthology of Writings on the Material Culture of the Fur Trade

Pasadena, Ca. Socio-Technical Publications, 1970. First Edition. Quarto. Item #023922

73 pp. Researchers had overlooked the very items upon which the fur trade depended on, the actual trade goods or the denominators of the Indian trade. These items, beads, silver brooches, earrings, bracelets, hatchets, guns and more have a fascinating history. This volume is devoted exclusively to the subject. Nearly a hundred illustrations carefully picked from the enormous collection of the author detail the history of trade beads, wampum and the complexities of trade silver and German silver ornaments. A very nice, near fine copy bound in a black and maroon marbled cloth, spine lettering gilt, in a near fine unclipped pictorial dust jacket lettered in black and orange, with just a bit of toning to edges.

Price: $85.00
