267(1) directions to the binder, twenty-four hand-colored aquatints including frontispiece each with over sheet for off-setting protection (not tissue guard but laid paper watermarked English Bond, plates watermarked J. Whatman Turkey 18?? cut off not fully revealing the date or Mill. No foxing to plates but a few spots or finger soiling to margins. Bound by Root and Son with another stamp W.T. Spencer, New Oxford St. London, who was a bookseller and Dickens specialist who died in 1936. Bound in full tan polished calf, triple ruled in gilt, rebacked with old spine laid down, green and brown spine labels gilt, other compartments decorated in a floral design, marbled endpapers, inner gilt dentelles, top edge gilt, some rubbing to edges and spine, internally clean and bright. A very good copy.
