The Notebooks of Don Rigoberto
New York; (1998): Farrar, Straus and Giroux. First American Edition. Octavo. Item #023555
259pp., translated from the Spanish by Edith Grossman. Set in Lima, the author tells of a love triangle whose participants may be the fictional creations of Don Rigoberto: Rigoberto himself, by day an insurance executive, by night a pornographer and sexual enthusiast. The author keeps the reader guessing which episodes are real and which is from imagination. A very good copy bound in 1/4 black cloth over pale blue paper covered boards lettered in black, spine lettered in a blue foil, some light rubbing along upper edge, near fine in a near fine unclipped pictorial dust jacket.
