Color frontispiece, and 17 other full page color plates, 204(1)pp. translated by Tobias Smollett, Introduction by Julian Barns. First published in France in 1759. Tobias Smollett's translation formed part of his thirty-five volume edition of the works of Voltaire which was published between 1761 and 1765. A fine copy bound in full maroon Nigerian goatskin lettered in gilt, spine gilt and top edge gilt, housed within publisher's gilt lettered slipcase.
