Title page in red and black, 177(1) pp. illustrated by the author with 20 hand-colored plates (on pink paper) showing the various military costumes worn by the French each with tissue guard present. A lovely copy bound in gull pale blue leather with board edges stamped in black and framed in gilt, raised bands with compartments stamped in gilt depicting an eagle, bands and lettering gilt, spine evenly faded, endpapers renewed, housed with cloth slipcase with color illustrated pastedown. A fine copy without foxing names or bookplates.
