30pp. Half-title, color frontispiece, decorative engraved title page and regular title page. 43 other hand-colored plates and several textual black and white illustrations by Horace Vernet. This work was first published in 1839. It became so successful that it was reprinted in 1840(the present work) and again in 1849. This work is similar to the Las Cases' Memorial de Sainte-Hélène published in 1842. Bound in 1/4 tan polished calf over marbled paper covered boards, raised bands, double red and brown spine labels gilt, compartments decorated in gilt, marbled endpapers (not matching), some scattered foxing throughout, from the library of the Chassagne with their bookplate. A very good copy.
