1400pp., 16pp. publisher's catalog. The author was but 22 yearsold in 1845 when he began massive biography, a record of the service of every living Royal Navy officer of the executive branch. Sadly, he did not achieve much financial success from his work.In 1859 he started on another edition but he had died before it was finished. A very good copy rebound in cloth with old pictorial gilt front cover and spine cloth laid down, endpapers renewed, two previous officer's names to front blank, one dtated 1849, the other 1870 (names indecipherable). A very nice copy.
