A Texas Matchmaker
Boston: Houghton, Mifflin and Co., 1904. First Edition. Octavo. Item #023123
355pp. illustrated by E. Boyd Smith. The author lived the cowboy life on the Texas plains. While living the life of a cowboy, he didn't much care how others portrayed the life of a cowboy, not wild men but hard working men. He decided to write his own story. His first book was titled The Log of a Cowboy published in 1903, which recounts a trail drive from Brownsville to Montana. The present work, Adams provides a wealth of detail about life on the great ranches of early Texas. A near fine copy bound in olive green pictorial cloth accented in pink, black and gilt, spine gilt, spine ends, and corners slightly rubbed. booksellers' ticket to rear pastedown, the numbers 1-1-2-8 written very tiny in ink to upper left corner of front pastedown. Very nice.
