Portrait frontispiece, lxxxiv, 668pp., These men wrote of a realistic, satirical comedy of the Restoration period of dramatic comedy that depicts and often satirizes the manners and affectations of a contemporary society. The plot of such a comedy, usually concerned with an illicit love affair or similarly scandalous matter. A lovely copy bound in 3/4 black Morocco over dark blue pebble grained cloth raised bands gilt with lettering within two compartments gilt, all edges marbled with matching endpapers, light damp stain to upper corner of frontispiece and title page, internally clean without foxing, names or bookplates.
