175pp. Portrait frontispiece of Henry James, with tissue guard with Henry James facsimile name in facsimile in red, title page lettering in red and black. Besides the frontispiece, there are 7 other tipped in illustrations. These illustrations were reproduced from Harper's New Monthly Magazine, June 1889, where they served as illustrations to James's essay, "Our Artists in Europe". Head piece on page 1, and decorative initial letter at the beginning of each essay. This copy is bound in the deluxe binding of white cloth lettered and highly decorated in gilt, top edge gilt. There are four other secondary bindings. A very nice copy with only a bit of finger soiling to binding, internally clean and bright.
