Walton was the author of The Compleat Angler, one of the most important environmental books in history. He later would publish a biography of his fishing buddy and friend John Donne after he died in 1631. The Life and Death of Dr. Donne was published in 1640. He had later written a few other biographies. The present work would be the last of his biographies. A handsome copy bound in a later full paneled calf, corner flourishes in gilt, raised bands, lettering gilt, compartments stamped in blind, marbled endpapers, inner gilt turn-ins, all edges gilt, occasional spots of scattered foxing mostly to plates, rear hinges weakening somewhat. Very nice.
