In six volumes with original wrappers bound in. Limited to only 1000 copies on hand-made paper for the US and England. Volume one contains an 83p. editor's preface which explains the early copies of The Faerie Queen with examples of title pages, and sonnets. Pages xix-xxi of volume one also offers a listing of the illustrations within each volume, which includes half-titles, title page, frontispieces, head and tail pieces. All volumes bound in original cream pictorial gilt cloth lettered in red, spine lettering gilt, top edges gilt, all others uncut, bindings are sharp cornered with no bumping, covers are clean and bright (as new). Previous owner's names dated 1906 and 1948 in volume one only, all in clear mylar for protection from soiling. A magnificent set and possibly one of the prettiest sets ever offered.
