. #83 of 300 copies. Illustrated by Robert Gibbings. This work was first commissioned for illustrating the Kynoch Press Diary 1941. in 1940 during the war, paper was rationed. The Kynoch Works were under bombardment and a bomb had hit the paper warehouse of the Kynoch Press. The book eventually was produced in 1948. The blocks used remained at the press until their closure, though three had become lost. Seven still remained but later given to a Gibbings’ collector. Those seven blocks were loaned by the collector to produce the present work. Bound in 1/4 black cloth over decorative paper covered boards, spine lettering silver. Upper portion of fron board with some toning or off-setting. A very good copy.
