576pp, illustrated with 446 engravings, interspersed through the text and 24 full page illustrations, chiefly from nature. Divided into four parts; The organography and physiology of plants; The classification of plants; the natural families of plants and Geographical distibution of plants on the suface of the globe. An intersting work which is still useful today. One plate shows how one gathers bark from the Cork Tree. A near fine, bright copy without foxing bound in 3/4 green pebble grained morocco over marbled paper covered baords with matching endpapes, rasied bands ruled in gilt, lettering gilt, previous owner's name plate. Very nice.
