Danish astronomer, Dr. William Doberck (1852-1941), who, amongst other things, dedicated his professional career to double star astrometry which involves precise measurements of the positions and movements of stars and other celestial bodies. The information obtained by astrometric measurements provides information on the kinematics and physical origin of the Solar System and our galaxy, the Milky Way. On the verso of the front free endpaper is a listing of where and when this work was reviewed. The author was an astronomer and the president of the Royal Astronomical Society and the Royal Institution of Cornwall. viii, 257pp. Obituaries of 24 astronomers. Bound in green cloth lettered in gilt, decorated in black, spine lettering gilt with black, small stain to front cover. A very good copy of this very uncommon work.
