Edition De Luxe Limited to 500 copies of which this is no. 437 signed A & C Black. Foster was an English artist who traveled around Europe painting landscapes of Scotland, the Rhine Valley, the Swiss lakes and in Italy in watercolor. He was especially known for his English countrysides.216pp., filled with several color and black & white illustrations, some full paged others within the text and one etching that precedes the frontispiece. Contains a list of principal books containing Foster's illustrations, a list of water-colour paintings exhibited and the Royal Society of painters and a list of oil paintings exhibited at the Royal Academy. A very good bound in a white decorative cloth illustrated and ruled in green and red, designed carried to spine, top edge gilt, all others uncut. A very nice copy with some finger soiling to cloth and leaning just a bit.
