A very good copy with some fading to cloth spine, clean text and no marks of previous ownership. What took Bolton more than twenty years to do as he retraced the exact route of the Escalante expedition was what allowed him to provide for the first time a serious history of the 1776 expedition. The previous works by Dean Harris and Herbert S. Auerbach were not thoroughly researched but they still are readable for the beginning reader. Leroy Hafen notes that the large three color maps along with the text make this the definitve edition for the serious reader.
