The Daily Okinawan (April 6, 1946); Army Day Issue
Item #018346
4p. A nice copy with only light wear along outer edges. Besides announcing Army Day and the end of KP, notes pilots are working with atomic bomb test using drones. Comic strips include "Blondie" "Donald Duck", "Li'l Abner" and Dick Tracy. Sports page notes the big money being offered by the Mexican League to Major League ballplayers (Max Lanier and Lou Klein were among those who accepted) and photograph of Marty Marion of the St. Louis Cardinals discussing gloves with fellow shortstop Eddie Miller (who claimed have a hole in the pocket gave him a better feel of the ball). A nice item of the GI's still in service in the Pacific Theatre nearly a year after Japan's surrender. A nice item.
