Imperial Cabinet Photograph of a Seated Maricopa Squaw

Item #018131

Cabinet card measures 5 3/4" x 3 3/4". Verso is dated August 3, 1909. And mailed from Tombstone to Bisbee [sic] Arizona. Penciled underneath no doubt by the sender "ain't she a brick". David Daniels in his "Photograph's Wet-Place Interlude in Arizona Territory, 1864-1880" in the Journal of Arizona History notes on p. 192 that this was often done of Apache women being photographs from the waist up. Mollie Fly continued to run the Tombstone gallery on her own and in 1905 she published a number of her late husband's famous photographs. She was inducted in 1989 into the Arizona Women's Hall of Fame. A similar photograph measuring 7 1/2" x 4 3/4" sold at the Skinner Auction in 2002 for $811.

Price: $225.00
