"Command Decision"; a Collection of 10 8"X10" Black and White Promotional Photographs at the Loews Theatres Where it Was Shown

Item #016687

While the premiere of Command Decision took place on December 25, 1948, it did not go into general release until February 1949. Rated as one of the ten best films of 1949, it had a stellar cast led by Clark Gable (who himself flew fix missions as a tail gunner in 1943 and won the Distinguished Flying Cross). The cast included Walter Pigeon, Van Johnston, Brian Donlevy, Edward Arnold and Cameron Mitchell (who like Gable flew a number of missions). These photographs show the various Loews theatres where the film opened in each city. The United States Army Air Force Band entertains on opening night in St. Louis (also showing advance lobby display--(2 photographs); Window Displays at the Loews in Pittsburgh (2 photographs); a special Parade with the military at Harford (2 photographs), Toledeo's Loews Valentine Theatre lobby display [ note the planes hanging from the ceiling] (2 photographs) and one at the Tampa Loews in front of an actual 1-80 jet engine from Mitchell field. Incidentally, the photographer has included a photograph in a store window of 3 Godfathers with several pictures of John Wayne amidst children's shoes. All are in very good condition with no identification on the back.
