24p. Bookplate [sum Caroli Whibley] of Charles Whibley (1859-1930) who recommended T.S. Eliot to Faber and later in Eliot's London Letter (June 1922) he speaks of the poet to replace Sir Walter Raleigh at Oxford and he suggests Mr. Sturge Moore who he says is "...sensitive and scholarly". Later in the same letter he writes of the need for great Gentlemen in their library. "I prize ..Mr. Whibley because he has read so many things that I have not read and because he is not a Whig..". This copies printed dedication is to Charles Ricketts [CSR], the eminent illustrator and book designer as is evidenced by the beautiful typeface of the poems. A nice copy in original wrappers with centaur's image on front cover with some loss of spine.
