The Town of Little Compton; an Historical Address with a Catalogue of the Historical exhibit (inscribed By the author)

Little Compton, Rhode Island: The Providers Press, 1906. Original Cloth. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Very Good. Item #016181

50p. with 12 page catalogue at end, although this is the official published trade edition, the paper version's original wrappers, front and rear paid are laid in. While the history of Saconet (Little Compton) begins officially in 1661, it does have settlements that existed earlier. There is a section on how the town began to boycott English goods after the Intolerable Acts, encouraged and paid for men to join the militia. Marvelous anecdotes of Col. William Richmond on calling the religious townspeople to task for not praying for the Revolutionary soldiers. Also of Primus Collins who joined him in the fray when the phrase "darkey" was used. Blindstamp of former owner, a few closed tears else a near fine copy of an important Rhode Island account of life in Colonial and Revolutionary America.

Price: $95.00
