Nott was among the most eminent of authorities on Chinese jade, creating the only existing comprehensive record of Chinese ritual jades in the imperial collection in China (his personal collection of Chinese ritual jades was the finest in the world). Essential for the jade collector with more than 350 color reproductions in color on 39 plates and black and white on 110 plates with 73 line drawings of choice pieces from private collections from the 1930's to 1940's most of which are still not on the open market. For centuries before the Christian era, jade was valued in China as the purest and most divine of natural treasures. A near fine copy bound in brown cloth lettered and decorated in green and gilt, spine lettering gilt, in clipped pictorial dust jacket with small closed edge tear to front panel along upper edge, very minor wear to spine ends.
