311pp., inscribed by the author to J. Rogers Kees dated 1882, also containing a tipped in manuscript letter from author J.Westby-Gibson to J. Rogers Kees discussing the poet Aldrich. Rees authored several books such as; The pleasures of a book-worm; The brotherhood of Letters; The diversions of a book-worm, etc. Mr. Westby-Gibson authored books on poetry and shorthand and was a huge contributor to the DNB(Dictionary of National Biography.) and he review books as well. Mounted to the front fly leaf are two news articles written by Aldrich, Oliver W. Holmes and Walt Whitman on the subject of the American Tariff Bill which in effect would reduce the duty on printed matter from 25 per cent to fifteen percent which they were against. A good copy bound in brown cloth over beveled boards stamped in gilt, chipping or wear through at spine ends and corners, rear inner hinge just starting, some pencil notes to front endpaper.
