1 page fragile but in tact of Edwin (Illinois records record his given name as Edmund but it plainly is written Edwin) W. Eakin who held the rank of Sergeant and was discharged on June 9, 1865 with the discharge signed by Dr. Blwncowe E. Fryer who was a noted physician, born in England, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1959, appointed assistant surgeon May 28, 1861, promoted to the rank of Captain and remained in the army medical service until retirement in 1887. He became a professor of Ophthalmology and Otology in the Kansas City Medical College and later at the University of Kansas. Lettersize (8 1/2 x11) folded in three places with appropriate stamps and various notes written across top of document.
