Providence; 1920 and 1922: Rhode Island Historical Society. First Editions. Octavo. Item #014178

Volume I. 80 pages, index I-VIII; Volume II 101p., index I-XI. Every case appears with each jury inpaneled and each decision. A remarkable detail of the mid-17th Century legal proceedings in Rhode Island. (In 1998 a third volume appeared on cases after 1670. The old spellings that were prevalent in both England and in the new colony are fascinating as are the kinds of cases, fines, resolutions. The Benedict Arnold here referred to is not the one who appeared a little more than a century later but an ancestor. Very scarce ser bound in blue cloth, spine lettering gilt, short tear to cloth along upper joint near head. A very goo, clean set.
