Theoretical astrophysics is the science which studies and explains, using the laws of physics, the physical processes occurring in the heavenly bodies. In doing so, wide use is made of mathematical methods, but these paly only a subsidiary part. The first Russian textbook on theoretical astrophysics appeared in 1939 and was written by the editor of the present work. A very good copy bound in dark blue cloth spine lettered and ruled in gilt, red stamps on front and rear endpapers "Department of Aeronautics U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, some fading to spine.
