The compiler of this book, in 1911, saw a Lithuanian carving board and several prints for the first time in the Kaunas City Museum. These exhibits encouraged him to look for more examples of this branch of folk art and study them. In 1927, the first exhibition in Lithuania was organized and a catalog was published. Interest in the exhibition was not great, however, several articles appeared in periodicals about folk carving. Before WWII, the Siauliai Ausros Museum had the largest collection of folk carvings in Lithuania. Soon folk carvings were gaining an interest. Bound in beige cloth centrally stamped in black depicting a flower, spine lettering black, corners worn, small bump with tiny tear near head, small sticker to rear free endpaper, in very worn and chipped pictorial dust jacket.
