Des Salons De Paris Vers La Fin De La Regne Louis XVI a L'Occasion d'Une Lettre De La Marquise d'Usse

Paris: La Societe De Bibliophiles, 1867. First Edition. Small Octavo. Item #006508

62p. French text. Though the salons are first mentioned in 1664, they began to grow first around the court of Louis XIV and proliferate after his death until the French Revolution when they were transformed into something quite different. This small work published by the Bibliophiles of Paris presents a picture that is quite fascinating. A fine bright copy bound in marbled paper covered boards, black leather spine label gilt, small sticker to front pastedown, Raymond Cavreuil of Paris who was a publisher. Very nice.
