. 199pp., illustrated with sixty-nine diagrams in the text and thirty-two plats. This work was compiled to fill in the gaps of the subject which had been fully been discussed in other works. The author collects all the records and references, especially thos within English documents which dealt with the actual making of armour and the regulations which controlled the Armourer and his craft. No reference to swords and other weapons are present. A polyglot glossary is included. bound in red cloth lettered and stamped in blind to upper board, spine lettering gilt. In the scarce, original gilt lettered and decorated dust jacket with chipping to edge and some edge wear to top edge of rear panel. Some darkening to boards from jacket, some toning to leaves. A very nice copy.
