Cloth. Very Good / No Jacket. 8vo., 210, (2)pp. A classic treatise on English Law, in a very
readable text, underlining the genius behind the pen. In original brown linen boards, with
gilt-lettered black spine label. Ads for Saunders & Otley following text. Errata slip tipped-in. The
text block is clean and tight, without marks except for very minimal spotting on outer pages. The
linen boards are exquisite: Minimal wear to spine, a small water mark on panel, and one bumped
corner. An extremely handsome copy.

Rhode Island Court Records; Records of the Court of Trials of the Colony of Providence Plantations, 1647-1670 (Volumes I and II. Providence: Rhode Island Historical Society, 1920. 1at. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Cloth. Very Good Very scarce Volume I. 80 pages, index I-VIII; Volume II 101p., index I-XI. Volume II has a 1 1/2" tear on cloth, binding clean and tight. Every case appears with each jury inpaneled and each decision. A remarkable detail of the mid-17th Century legal proceedings in Rhode Island. (In 1998 a third volume appeared on cases after 1670. The old spellings that were prevalent in both England and in the new colony are fascinating as are the kinds of cases, fines, resolutions. The Benedict Arnold here referred to is not the one who appeared a little more than a century later but an ancestor.

A work that was the standard in Great Britain and was used throughout the fledgling nation as the body of English law was delineated into equity versus law (with an emphasis on using common law) but until the mid-Nineteenth Century a transition was underway of which this was among the last to be modified.
